The Arabian Horse Association produces four National Championship shows, and one endurance ride that showcases the best of the Arabian horse breeds in a variety of in-hand classes and performances. The series kicks off in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with the Youth Nationals Arabian Horse show, which in 2014 takes place from July 19-26 at Expo New Mexico. About the Arabian Horse Show
The Youth National event was started in 1993 and since then, has been the AHA’s premier youth event. A full week of competition showcases young competitors in English, Western, Sidesaddle, Native costume, Dressage, Working cow, and Hunter disciplines. Other activities featured at this event include leadership training, games, parades, and contests. The youth association is for all horse lovers who are under the age of 18, and the Youth Nationals competition typically draws around 2,100 horses. At the National level, panels of judges decide placings, and final numbers are calculated by combining the results of all judges’ cards.
About AHA and Albuquerque
The Arabian Horse Association was formed in 2003 after a merger between the International Arabian Horse Association and the Arabian Horse Registry of America. It is the single national organization and breed registry that registers Arabian horses in the U.S. AHA shows are for purebred Arabian, half-Arabian, and Anglo-Arabian horses only, and the shows allow exhibitors to get a start in the show ring. The Youth Nationals show spotlights young people who want to learn more and compete.
