Your Complete Guide to the 2014 International Balloon Fiesta

Every year, thousands of people book hotel rooms in Albuquerque during the month of October for the city’s leading attraction: the International Balloon Fiesta. If you are simply fascinated by the beautiful sight of hot air balloons ascending into the sky, the International Balloon Fiesta is a must-attend event. Here, we’ve outlined some of the main attractions of the festival, as well as some helpful tips to make your time at the Balloon Fiesta one you’ll never forget!

Watch the Mass Ascension and Dawn Patrol Show

Hot air balloon owners from all over the world gather in Albuquerque for the festival to showcase their hot air balloons during the Mass Ascensions and Dawn Patrol Show. The Mass Ascension takes place during the morning hours, while the Dawn Patrol Show begins as the sun goes down. Both performances fill the sky with an array of dazzling colors. In the past, the festival has featured “special shape” balloons like Cheshire Cat, Snow White, Aaron (an Elvis look-alike), Smokey the Bear and many more.

Take a Balloon Ride

After watching all the balloons drift into the sky, you may wish you could be flying high, too.  Well, with the help of Rainbow Ryders, Inc., you can join in on the fun! You can even take advantage of a $30 off coupon if you call in advance.

Enjoy the 2014 Music Fiesta

Keep the fun rolling by getting into the groove at the year’s Music Fiesta! Starting at noon on Saturday, October 11, the Music Fiesta features performances by some of today’s leading artists and old-time favorites.  Country superstar Josh Turner, best known for his songs “Your Man,” “All Over Me” and “Would You Go With Me,” headlines the lineup. David Nail, who performs “Let it Rain,” “Red Light” and “Turning Home,” will also sing, as will Sawyer Brown, a classic band best known for their hit “Some Girls Do.”

Other Things To Note:

  • Parking at the Fiesta is $10 per vehicle per session. You may pick up your passes in advance at the Balloon Fiesta’s office.
