Love Tango? Don’t Miss the Albuquerque Tango Festival

For the fourth year in a row, Albuquerque is proud to host the Albuquerque Tango Festival. Last year, over 600 participants gathered together to enjoy world-class DJs, dance instructors, and a 3,000-ft dance floor. This year, festival goers will enjoy all that and even more! This year, festival highlights include more than 30 hours of milongas—tango dancing—as well as some of the best DJs out there, all in a huge 14,000 square foot ballroom. Dance-lovers will experience tango from all direction, in a 3,000 square foot main dance floor as well as on two auxiliary dance floors. If you love dance and the tango, this is the spot for you.

Learn and Practice Your Dancing and More

One of the best parts of the Albuquerque Tango Festival is just how much it focuses on dance. There will be two milongas on Friday as well as one each on Saturday and Sunday. Dancers and tango lovers from all over the world gather to celebrate their passion for dance. This year, there will be a live performance by Albuquerque’s own tango orchestra, QTANGO, during Saturday’s late night milonga. It’s something you don’t want to miss. One thing that the Albuquerque Tango Festival is also known for is the abundance of cake—that’s right, cake! At each milonga, giant custom-baked cakes honoring the various instructors and DJs will be front and center.

Enjoy Albuquerque Atmosphere

When you’re not dancing your heart out at the Tango Festival, you’ve got a lot of options for other entertainment. For instance, Albuquerque is rich in culture and nightlife, and you can visit any of the museums, local hotspots, or spend some time shopping. If you just can’t get enough dancing, you’ll want to know about Barcelona Suites’ salsa nights. Be sure to check out all that’s available to you during your time in Albuquerque.
