If you’re a salsa lover, you won’t want to miss the 9th annual Old Town Salsa Fiesta. It’s happening on September 14, 2013, and will feature something for everyone. Come on down, stay in a hotel suite in Albuquerque, and don’t miss a minute of the action.
Taste test 40 different contestants’ attempts at creating the best salsa this side of the border. Competitors make their salsa on the plaza, and for a very affordable price of $5 (the Fiesta is free if you don’t want to participate in the salsa-sampling), you can indulge in trying 40 different salsas. Cast your vote for your favorite, then stick around to see who takes the top pick. This event showcases the best salsa recipes from non-professional cooks in the region, and the winners will be announced at the Gazebo.
Salsa Music and Dancing
Of course, it wouldn’t be a salsa fiesta without salsa dancing and music. You’ll enjoy music played in Old Town, and in the evening, a salsa dance party will take place. The Gazebo will serve as a meeting place for the bands performing at the fiesta. Dance the night away!
All that dancing will make you hungry, and you can’t survive on salsa alone (or at least, we don’t recommend it!). New Mexican cuisine is delicious and of course plentiful in Albuquerque. With Spanish, European, and Mexican influence, you’ll love the local flavor. Not into spicy foods? Not to worry—the area is home to many different restaurants serving all types of food, from barbecue to pizza, Vietnamese to Italian. No matter what you’re in the mood for, we’ve got something you’ll love.
Finally, you don’t have to let the fun end just because the Fiesta is over. Head back to Barcelona Suites, the only hotel in the area to feature live salsa music and dancing on the weekends in the Barcelona Suites lounge. On Fridays, enjoy Havana Fridays with a live DJ spinning the hottest Latin music as well as drink specials and special hotel room rates so you can make a night of it.
Trek on down to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and enjoy a vacation like you’ve never experienced before.
