Visiting Albuquerque? Don’t Miss This Year’s Heights Summerfest

If you’re planning summer vacations for your family and are looking for fun events that will be ideal for everyone, you won’t want to miss Albuquerque’s Heights Summerfest. This year’s fest takes place on Saturday, June 13 this year, and features headliners Smash Mouth—family-friendly fun in the sun!

What’s at Heights Summerfest?

When you visit Albuquerque with intentions of checking out the Heights Summerfest, you’re in for a treat. The fest takes place at North Domingo Baca Park, and this year will feature three bands, including Smash Mouth. Smash Mouth is celebrating a new record release, titled MAGIC, featuring sure-to-be-hits “Flippin’ Out” and “Magic,” so you can be sure to hear those jams, plus their previous hits, including “All Star,” “Walkin’ on the Sun,” “Then the Morning Comes,” and, from the Shrek soundtrack, “I’m a Believer.” Not sure if the new album will deliver? Perhaps he’s a bit biased, but frontman Steve Harwell says, “We’ve got so many hits on this new record, it’s ridiculous.”

Other acts at this year’s Summerfest include Countdown to Overkill and Youngsville. Countdown to Overkill has played a variety of Battle of the Bands shows as well as other special events around Albuquerque and Rio Rancho, such as Juneteeth, the Pork & Brew, and more. Youngsville is a band named after a one-street town in northern New Mexico, where the grandfather of Carlos, the lead singer, was born. Youngsville plays a blend of pop and punk, bringing catchy tunes that are about having a great time to the masses.

As for other happenings at the Heights Summerfest, you’ll have the opportunity to taste food and drinks from local vendors, drink locally made beers in the Microbrew Garden, take part in free kids’ activities, and browse some shopping areas.

Other Albuquerque Activities

While you visit Albuquerque for the Heights Summerfest, be sure to enjoy a day by the pool at the Barcelona Suites hotel, and check out some of the local flavor at nearby restaurants and bars. There are a plethora of museums in Albuquerque, as well, perfect for browsing with the whole family. If you’re bringing kids along on the trip, check out Explora Science Center and Children’s Museum, or the ABQ Biopark, a group of facilities including the Rio Grande Zoo, Botanic Garden, Albuquerque Aquarium, and Tingley Aquatic Park. No matter what sort of activities you’re interested in, you’ll find something for everyone to enjoy in Albuquerque.

Start planning your trip today, so that you too can party like rock stars with Smash Mouth, Countdown to Overkill, Youngsville, and all the other attendants of the fest.
